Barricades

My Studio, My Head

The canvases are inspired by an idea: create a metaphorical paint barricade in front of all the toxic information that comes to us every day from a cruel world. The news conspires to distance us from an emotional experience. Painting is a challege to find a new sense of reality. A new entry point because there is a deeper underlying truth.

In my case the barricade is created with three basic elements of the painting: the brushstroke, the “veladura” “glaze” (that produces a veiled effect with very thin layers of paint) and the pasting. The glaze creates a surface apparently empty but full of pictorial nuances and poetic suggestions where we can take refuge.
My studio means my mind.
